U.S. Capitol - It's one of the world's best-known symbols of democracy. The building was started in 1793 when George Washington laid the cornerstone. The Capitol building is where Congress meets. Congress is made up of two parts - the House of Representatives and the Senate. These two parts are the Legislative Branch of our government.
